Holy Trinity, like all Churches, is a place where everyone should feel welcome, no matter what they have done, or what has been done to them.

The terrible failures of the Church in the past, the abuse of which priests and others were guilty, and the the failure properly to punish the guilty and protect the innocent have diminished the sense of safety everyone who enters a Church is entitled to.

That past teaches us that talk is cheap. It is all very well our claiming to be a safe place. Instead, these are the things we have done.

We ensure all employees and volunteers are recruited in accordance with
best practice to ensure the safety of children and vulnerable adults
Everyone who is employed or who volunteers at Holy Trinity is required to read the Church’s safeguarding policy, and undertake training in safeguarding matters.

We have appointed a Parish Safeguarding Officer whose entire professional life was given to safeguarding and child protection, and who is responsible, with the parish priest, for reviewing the Church’s safeguarding arrangements.

Holy Trinity is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops’ guidance and policies and work in accordance with the safeguarding policies and procedures of the Diocese of Liverpool.
